Thanks to its visionary port project, the Lonja Marina Charter initiative has been awarded the contract for the management of 104 berths in La Lonja Marina in a public tender by the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands.<\/p>

The focus is on a sustainable energy management system that is revolutionizing the use of energy in the port. Modern yachts, which are often equipped with powerful battery systems and renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, are becoming active energy suppliers for port operations.<\/p>

The system makes it possible to feed surplus energy from yachts into the port grid to power infrastructure such as lighting, pumping stations, administration buildings or, for example, charging stations for electric vehicles. This significantly reduces the port’s carbon footprint and creates a model for the sustainable development of marinas worldwide. It combines sustainability with technological innovation and relies not least on cooperation between port operators and yacht owners.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Strong partners<\/strong>
Together with the Palma Aquarium, the University of the Balearic Islands and many other institutions, Lonja Marina Charter will be working on projects in the coming years to study the flora and fauna as well as the water quality of the Balearic Islands’ harbors. The aim is to teach everyone – especially schoolchildren – about sustainability using the example of the resources on board a yacht.<\/p>

Lonja Marina Charter was founded in 2009 as a joint venture between six competing companies: Alboran, Cruesa, Latitud Cero, Viva Charter, ECC Charter and Yates Mallorca.
